India Matthews, sophomore from Merrimac, AUS, rebounded after posting an opening round of 76 to post the best round by any of the 50 players in the Heartland Conference Championship, a 4-under 68 at Slick Rock Golf Course in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, that included four birdies over her final five holes. That allowed her to finish at even par, move into a tie for third individually and make the all-tournament team in a conference event that featured four top-20 NCAA Division II squads. Because of a conference decision before the season, Oklahoma Christian wasn't eligible to win the conference title, but the Lady Eagles did shoot the lowest team score over the two-day tournament, thanks in good part to Matthews' sizzling finish.
