Charlie Shorter, senior guard from Mid-America Christian University, powered the 6-4 Mid-America Christian University Evangels to a pair of victories this past week, averaging 28.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 3.0 steals while 51 percent overall from the field to earn the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor on Jan. 7, 2013. Shorter started the week by dropping 30 points in an 89-76 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan, then propelled the Evangels to a 93-84 win at No. 9-ranked Rogers State University with a game-high 26 points along with four rebounds and two steals on 11-of-18 from the floor. He took the game over down the stretch, scoring eight of the Evangels' 10 points that turned a 71-69 deficit into an eight-point lead that MACU never relinquished. Shorter currently ranks second in the Sooner Athletic Conference in scoring (21.9 ppg) and is fifth in steals (2.1 spg) and eighth in field-goal percentage (.402).
