Sarai Rodriguez joined the 1,000 point club with a bucket early in the fourth quarter of the third-place game against top-seeded Roberts Wesleyan College at the NCCAA DI Women’s Basketball National Championship. The junior from Austin, Texas finished with 16 points to give her 1,015, the most in the Evangels’ NAIA history. Rodriguez also finished the season with 674 points and 101 threes, both single-season highs for the Evangels as an NAIA program. In her 3 games at the NCCAA Championship, Rodriguez averaged 14.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2.7 steals per game.
