Daniel Michalski won the 3000m steeplechase at the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational, eclipsing one of the oldest marks in the Yellow Jacket record book. The junior from Xenia, Ohio posted a time of 8:52.01, which took more than 3 seconds off the previous record of 8:55.37 set by Brian Hull at the 1977 NAIA Championship. It also set new APU Cougar Stadium and Bryan Clay Invitational records. Michalski’s time ranks No. 1 in the NCCAA and No. 4 in NCAA DII this season, also meeting the automatic qualifying mark for NCAA DII. Michalski narrowly missed another school record in the 1500m in a personal-best 3:46.71, ranking No. 2 in the NCCAA and No. 11 in NCAA DII.
