Freshman Anna Maumalanga nearly broke her own school record in the discus with a distance of 41.95m at the Oxy Distance Carnival. The East Palo Alto, California native finished second in a deep NCAA field and beat the next closest freshman by about 10 meters. She also had a distance of 10.39m in the shot put to finish 14th. Maumalanga has the No. 5 distance in the discus for NCAA DII this season for a previous throw of 42.21m.
