Aleigha Talsma, a freshman from Hudsonville, Michigan, led the Tigers last weekend in the season opener at the RussMat Softball Classic in Auburn Dale, Florida. In 17 innings of work, she allowed only 3 earned runs, struck out 10, and did not walk a batter. Talsma had an ERA of 1.24 and opponents hit only .224 against her. Talsma’s first win of the year came against NAIA No. 22 Southeastern University, as she only allowed 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts. Against Bryan College, Talsma threw another complete-game and did not allow an earned run in the 3-1 win.
