Charlie Shorter, senior guard from Mid-America Christian University, led the Evangels to a fifth-place finish at the tourney by averaging 26.7 points per game in the three contests. He scored 32 in a 101-89 loss to Shorter University and then 31 to pave the way for a 91-69 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College. He then tallied 17 points in the fifth-place game, a 74-68 win over Spring Arbor University. He was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament team after also taking home the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year, NCCAA Central Regional Co-MVP and received the NCCAA National Player of the Year award at the conclusion of the Evangels' fifth-place victory Friday night (Mar. 15).
