John Reed, senior second baseman/outfielder from Union University, helped Union to a 2-1 week. He hit .462 (6-13) on the week and set a record, while tying two others. In Union's 19-6 win at Blue Mountain, Reed hit a pair of grand slams in the same games, driving in eight runs. He set the record for grand slams in a game (2), and tied the record for grand slams in a season (2) and RBI in a game (8). For the week, Reed hat six hits, one double, two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs. He was also perfect from the field in 10 chances with five assists and five putouts. In addition to the win over Blue Mountain, Union split with Gulf South Conference foe West Georgia, falling 4-2 and winning 2-0. Union is 6-16 on the season and 2-9 in league play.
