Paul Davis, junior from McMurry University, winning effort in the shot put - 67' 4 1/4" - at the Heartland/McMurry Invitational gave an NCCAA student-athlete the distinction of owning the best mark in the entire United States - at any level - and also shattered the McMurry school record. (Paul's mark was four inches ahead of Ryan Crouser from the University of Texas in second place; To put it into perspective, his mark would have placed him 11th at the 2012 Olympic Games!). Paul improved upon his own McMurry school record for the fourth time this season and was 3 1/2 feet better than his previous best (63' 10 1/4'). Davis has gone over 63 feet in four-consecutive meets and 10th time (out of 14 meets) over 60 feet since first breaching that barrier on 3/25/12. Paul was also the top college finisher in the men's discus (164' 11"), finishing only behind two unattached competitors.
