Zechariah Slater was the top finisher for the second-year Spurgeon College men’s cross country program, finishing with a mark of 29:56.6 seconds in his first 8,000-meter race of the 2026 campaign. Slater’s mark at the Spire Sunset Showdown breaks the young Spurgeon school record as he averaged a pace of 6:01.4 per mile. As a team, Spurgeon took seventh at the event behind Slater’s 64th place individual finish.
