Zechariah Slater continued to improve his 8,000-meter time for Spurgeon College and now holds a new school record after tallying a time of 28:31.5 at the Missouri Southern State University Southern Stampede. The sophomore from St. Clair, Missouri also led the young Spurgeon program to a program record team time after finishing 177th individually in a massive field of athletes from every athletic division. Spurgeon earned 23rd as a team out of 38 competitors behind Slater’s team best performance.
