Austin Wallace, sophomore from Edmond, OK, competing in the decathlon at the prestigious Kansas Relays, overcame less-than-optimal conditions (windy and cold) to post a score of 6,083. It was the second-best score of his career and the only two competitors to top Wallace each came from a NCAA Division I school. During the 10-event competition, Wallace won both the 100 meters (10.88 seconds) and 400 meters (52.99 seconds). He has qualified for the NCCAA Outdoor Championships in four individual decathlon events, as well as in the overall decathlon. Wallace ranks 2nd in the NCCAA rankings in the decathlon.
