After growing up in Miami, Florida, Ken Sanders moved to Georgia after high school to attend Piedmont College, earning his Bachelor of Arts in history then his Masters of Education from the University of Georgia. His coaching career began at Dalton High School before moving on to Toccoa Falls Academy/ Toccoa Falls College in 1976, where he has served as Dean of Students, Athletics Director, Men’s and Women’s basketball Coach, Baseball Coach and Cross-country coach. Today, he is the Vice President of Student Affairs, in addition to his coaching duties, and has served on the Administrative Board of TFC since 1977. Sanders’ colleagues have honored him as NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year, twice in women’s basketball and once in cross-country, following regional championships in these sports. He has received many other honors, including two-time Outstanding Young Men of America, being inducted into the Piedmont College Hall of Fame, the TFC President’s Silver Medallion Award, and 30 years of service at TFC. He also received the Outstanding Alumni Award in 2002. Sanders and his wife, Helen, are active in their church, where he is a deacon and serves as Discipleship Director. He has also been active in missions work, building churches in five countries. He holds many civic leadership positions, including the Optimist club at both the local and international levels. Sanders also serves on the state board of the Georgia Diabetic Association and the County YMCA board. The Sanders have two married daughters, Christi and Kendra, and twin grandsons.
