Hall of Fame
A native of Ohio, Kirk Hanson earned his bachelor’s degree from Central Bible College, where he played 4 years of basketball, loving it so much that he returned as head coach in 1978 and has remained for his 24-year career. During his coaching career, Hanson has earned 15 Central Region championships and 3 NCCAA National Titles in men’s basketball. He has been named Coach of the Year four times. Hanson was honored by the Missouri Sports Hall of fame for exceeding 500 wins, with his career victories at 543-324 and counting. Hanson has served the CNCAA in leadership positions, including 6 terms as National Men’s Basketball Chair and 11 years as National Statistician for Division II Men’s Basketball. He also served on the NCCAA Board of Directors, including a three year term as President of the association. With a passion for outreach, Hanson has been active not only in the CBC community, but also sharing Christ as coach of the 1993 NCCAA Select Basketball Team to Russia. He spends his summers directing day camps and basketball camps in inner city Newark, New Jersey. Hanson and his wife, Lynn, reside in Springfield, Missouri, and have one daughter, Tiffany, and one son, Blake.
