Del Wubbena and his wife, Connie, live in Clearwater, Florida. They have two children – Troy and Dawn, and four grandchildren – Jacqueline, Jeremy, Jordan, and Joshua. Coach Wubbena graduated from Bob Jones University in 1965 and received his Masters degree from Central Michigan University. He started his teaching and coaching career at MIO-Ausabie High School in Michigan, and has also taught and coached at Pensacola Christian College and tri-Cities Christian School in Kingsport, Tennessee. His teams have won over 600 games with more than 350 of those wins at Clearwater Christian College. In the 1990s, Coach Wubbena’s teams won either the FCCC or NCCAA Regional Championship every year, averaging more than 20 wins a year. He has been voted Coach of the Year a number of times, including the 1993 NCCAA National Coach of the Year. During the summer months, Coach Wubenna conducts basketball camps all over America. He has conducted more than 100 camps over the last 20 years. The camp strives to teach boys success through spiritual development. Pete Maravich and his dad, Press, ran the camp at Clearwater from 1983-1987. Coach Wubbena has been involved with the NCCAA since 1983, serving in such positions as South Region Chair and as a member of the Board of Directors. He was the NCCAA President from 1995-97.
