Hal Smith – led Malone College to 16 straight winning seasons, as wells as directed his team to the NAIA National Tournament twice. In addition, he led Malone to the NCCAA Division I National Championship in 1996 and has led several other teams to the NCCAA National Tournament. Smith has also garnered many national honors, including being selected as a coach for the 1994 US Olympic festival in St. Louis, Missouri where he worked under former Wisconsin Head Coach Stu Jackson as an assistant coach. He has served as president of the NAIA Basketball Coaches Association, American Mideast Conference Men’s Basketball Chair, and was chosen NCCAA National Coach of the Year in 1991. He has also been involved in the development of the NCCAA’s Victory Bowl, serving on the committee in a leadership role. Smith is also widely recognized at the local level. He has spoken at many area high schools and colleges, as well as various sports organizations, business groups, and churches.
