Dr. Ray Bullock graduated in 1958 from Ball State University in art education, and earned his Master’s degree from Ball State in 1960in art education with an emphasis on sculpture/jewelry. He completed his doctorate at BSU in 1978 in art education administration of higher education. As the only coach in history of the women’s program, Bullock has seen many highlights during his years at Taylors. The team has won four NAIA District Championships (85, 86, 92, 93) and finished second at the NCCAA Nationals on two occasions. Bullock has sent individuals/teams to the NAIA National Championship sic times and has won two Mid-Central Conference Championships. In 1985, Bullock’s squad finished second at the Indiana state meet. His ’86 team placed third. The teams highest finish at the NAIA Nationals was in 1992, when it took 20th place. Bullock has coached 11 NAIA Scholar Athletes, 14 NCCAA All-Americans, 25 NCCAA Scholar Athletes, and 19 All-State performers. Dr. Jay Kesler, President of Taylor, states, “You are a perfect example of what teaching by doing is all about. Being a role model for these young women seems to be a natural for you, and I thank you for your contribution to the athletic department at Taylor University and for your servant attitude.” Bullock is the retired chairman of the art department at Taylor. He and his wife, Jeanne, reside in Upland, Indiana.
