Larry Maddox has served at Anderson University (IN) for 22 years and is currently the assistant athletics director in charge of recruiting all sports and the head men and women’s cross-country and track and field coach. Coach Maddox is a past NCCAA National Cross-Country Chair. He graduated from Anderson University with a major in social studies and a minor in physical education. He lettered three years in both cross-country and track and field. His master’s degree was completed in physical education at the University of Dayton. Maddox has taught and coached for 11 years at the public high school level. He has been privileged to coach many outstanding student-athletes during his college coaching tenure. Over 100 of his men and women athletes have been honored as NCCAA All-Americans in cross-country and track and field. Anderson Raven cross-country teams have won the NCCAA National Championships on seven occasions. The men’s track and field team has been crowned NCCAA National Champions on five occasions. He was voted NCCAA Coach of the Year during each of these 12 national championships. Also, many of his student-athletes have achieved All-American honors in both the NAIA and NCAA DIII. In 1991 he was a member of the Olympic Festival track and field coaching staff and honored by being selected as the head coach of the 1995 North Squad for the track and field Olympic Festival. In the summer of 1996 Maddox was also the Operations Manager of the warm up track at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.
