Dr. Ken Roden is in his 27th year of service to LeTourneau University where he is an associate professor of mathematics in the division of computer science and mathematics. In addition to teaching various mathematics courses, Dr. Roden has coached intercollegiate cross-country for 19 seasons. He graduated from Bryan University with a major in mathematics. His M.S. degree was completed at the University of Arkansas. His Doctorial degree (Ed.D.), also from the University of Arkansas, was completed with an emphasis in math. While an undergraduate, Roden was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and received the Boyd award for the outstanding senior. In 1977 Roden established the first intercollegiate cross-country team at LeTourneau. Prior to this time is has been only a club sport. From 1979-95, he took his team to the NCCAA National Cross-Country Meet for all but two years. The cross-country program had no athletic scholarships until 1992. He has served and/or chaired several faculty committees one of which is the Teaching Faculty Organization. For several years (1971-1976) Roden also served as the Faulty Athletics Representative. In 1984, he was honored to receive the Athletic Director’s Award from LeTourneau. Athletically, Roden keeps pace with the Longview Running Club where he hosts a race each year. Roden is active is his home church, Grace Brethren, of Longview as well as continuing his work with the Child Evangelism Fellowship His hobbies include, fishing, jogging, crossword puzzles and some occasional outside tutoring.
