Dick Patterson, is completing his 20th year at Bethel College where he is presently the head baseball coach and associate professor of physical education, during which time he has been instrumental in the growth and success of Bethel Baseball. While at Bethel, he has also coached woman’s basketball (1982-86) and men’s soccer (1975-81). He graduated from Bethel College with a major in physical education. His love for baseball has been a significant influence in the growth of baseball in NCCAA District 4 and at the national level. He has been the tournament director for the NCCAA National Baseball Tournament for several years. He led the Bethel Pilots to NCCAA National Baseball Championships in 1986 and 1990. He was voted the NCCAA National Coach of the Year in 1990. His baseball teams have achieved 19 consecutive seasons of 20 or more wins. During Patterson’s tenure as baseball coach, his teams have qualified for NCCAA district playoffs every year and NAIA district playoffs 17 years. Bethel baseball teams have been crowned NCCAA district champions on ten occasions and Patterson has received NCCAA District Coach of the Year honors ten times.
