Pete Reese graduated from Cedarville High School and then Cedarville College. After serving as a basketball coach in Michigan while earning his Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, Pete felt God’s call to head west. He began serving Los Angeles Baptist College (now The Master’s College) in 1965 as Athletics Director, Men’s Basketball Coach, teacher, and other roles as needed. It was a great day in 1989 when Pete returned to his alma mater to begin serving as the Director of Athletic Facilities and Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. Reese currently serves as the Director of Outdoor Athletic Facilities at Cedarville University, having also served as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletics Director. During Reese’s time as Athletics Director, CU won the NCCAA Division I President’s Cup award for 2003-04, 2005-06, and 2006-07, as well as the women’s 2003-04 NAIA American Mideast Conference All-Sports Award. Cedarville University had 14 NCCAA National Championship teams, one NAIA National Championship team, and over 1,000 NCCAA honors awarded to CU student-athletes during his tenure. Teresa Clark, an Associate Professor and former Women’s Volleyball Coach at Cedarville University, says, “Pete is a standout among coaches and administrators affiliated with the NCCAA in his Christ-like attitude and lifestyle. He has always encouraged and emphasized keeping Christ at the center of all athletic endeavors and is a true example of the mission that the NCCAA stands for in every aspect.” NCCAA Hall of Fame member, Dr. Don Callan, offered his summary of Pete Reese’s service to Christian higher education by stating, “Pete has the ability to honor those who serve with him while never thinking he deserves any recognition for his leadership. His programs were expected to display class and always honor the mission of the NCCAA. Pete is simply a hero in our camp!” Pete and his wife, Joyce, live in Xenia, Ohio and have two married children and four grandchildren. His family joins us in reversing the trend of Pete always recognizing others. The time has come for Pete Reese to receive his reward for a life given to Christ through athletics.
