Biola University Wins 2017 DI Women’s Volleyball National Championship 12/2/2017 6:09:24 PM Kissimmee, FL (12/2/17): The No. 1 seeded Biola University Eagles won their first NCCAA DI Women’s Volleyball National Championship on Saturday, as they defeated No. 2 Campbellsville University 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-17, 25-21). Brinley Beresford had 46 assists, Tess Van Grouw had 19 digs, and Sabrina Winslow tallied 14 kills in the match. Biola went 4-0 in pool play and only lost 2 sets along the way. On Thursday, the Eagles beat No. 9 Bluefield College 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-15) and No. 5 McMurry University 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-15). Vanessa Garcia finished the day with 39 assists, while Tess Van Grouw tallied a total of 38 digs. In their Friday matches, the Eagles defeated No. 8 Grace College 3-1 (25-14, 17-25, 25-22, 28-26) and No. 4 Emmanuel College 3-1 (25-15, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17). Karly Dantuma recorded 22 kills on the day. Biola then faced No. 3 Southwestern Assemblies of God University in the semifinal match on Saturday and won in 3 sets (25-15, 26-24, 25-17). Brinley Beresford led the Eagles with 40 assists. Tess Van Grouw of Biola University was the Tournament Most Outstanding Player while Julie de Blanck of Emmanuel College was named the National Player of the Year.
