Olivet Nazarene University Wins 2018 Victory Bowl 12/1/2018 1:02:57 AM Surprise, AZ (11/30/18): Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) defeated Ottawa University Arizona (OUAZ) by the score of 38-35 to win its fourth (1997, 2004, 2005) NCCAA Victory Bowl™ on Friday night. The OUAZ Spirit jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after Austin McCullough threw 2 touchdown passes to Brandon McLaughlin. The ONU Tigers then scored the next 24 points which included a 90 yard touchdown run by Jayvion Daniels. Late in the third quarter, McCullough threw a touchdown pass to Antonio Day to pull within 3 points at 31-28. But the Tigers would take their lead back to 10 points after Jordan Lawton found Rashaan Gaymon on a 16 yard touchdown pass with 1:52 to go in the game. The Spirit would score another touchdown to make it 38-35, but the ensuing onside kick was unsuccessful. ONU’s quarterback, Jordan Lawton, went 15-of-26 for 232 yards, with 2 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown. Jayvion Daniels pounded out 260 yards on the ground with 2 touchdowns. Rashaan Gaymon finished with 106 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, while Brady Walling had 104 receiving yards. Defensively for the Tigers, Jalon Simpson finished with 12 tackles and Ben Toberman had 10. Brock Perry and Patryk Ryczek both intercepted a pass. For the Spirit, Austin McCullough was 33-of-50 for 402 yards with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Brandon McLaughlin finished with 8 receptions, 165 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Jeremiah Greylock, Antonio Day, and Ronnie Martin all caught touchdown passes as well. On the ground, Marcelous Chester-Riley ran for 70 yards and Shamar Moreland ran for 30. Da’Shawn Holcome, Marcos Garcia, and Kenneth Steele, Jr. led the Spirit defensively with 11 tackles each. Steele, Jr. and Amare Burks both forced a fumble, while David Jones recovered one. Jayvion Daniels of ONU was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player, while Kenneth Steele, Jr. of OUAZ was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player. See the full box score here.
