Erskine College Wins 2019 Softball National Championship

Botetourt, VA (5/17/19):  Erskine College captured its first NCCAA Softball National Championship, as they defeated No. 2 seeded Biola University by the score of 2-1. Biola took a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning after a bases loaded walk, but Erskine grabbed the 2-1 lead in the top of the 6th inning after Reagan Davis hit a 2-RBI double. The No. 1 seeded Flying Fleet didn’t look back after that, and held on to claim the 2019 National Title.
 
Erskine finished pool play undefeated, beating all three teams it faced. It took extra innings in their first game, but the Flying Fleet were able to beat No. 8 Kentucky Christian University 5-4 (8 inn.). Erskine next took down No. 5 Southwestern Assemblies of God University by the score of 3-0. In their final pool play game, the Flying Fleet won 7-4 against No. 4 Concordia University Ann Arbor. Erskine then took on No. 3 Judson University in a semifinal matchup, and defeated the Eagles 4-0 to advance to the championship game.
 
Erskine’s Reagan Davis was named the Tournament Most Outstanding Player. The All-Tournament Team and other awards are listed here.
