NCCAA's Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Announced 1/19/2022 11:35:23 AM Greenville, SC (1/21/22): The NCCAA is honored to announce Mark Goetsch, Chris Hess, and Chris Lahm will be inducted into the NCCAA Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2022. Mark Goetsch was a three-sport athlete at Maranatha Baptist University (formerly Maranatha Baptist Bible College) and upon graduation began a short professional basketball career in Europe. After his basketball career he transitioned into teaching and coaching the game he loved. Goetsch has spent the last 27 years in service at Pensacola Christian College (PCC), teaching, coaching, and leading the athletic department. During his time as Athletic Director at PCC the athletic department won 11 south region titles, 2 National Championships, and made 15 National Tournament appearances. Goetsch has faithfully served the NCCAA in leadership over the years as Region Sport Chair, South Regional Coordinator, and National Sport Chair. Goetsch continually emphasized the importance of missions through sports and encouraged coaches to pursue mission opportunities for their teams in which he led by example through his long-standing association with mission outreach in Romania. Goetsch has a commitment, steadfastness, and a spirit of integrity that shines in all that he does. Chris Hess has served at Bethel University (formerly Bethel College) for over 27 years in a variety of roles and currently serves as Associate Athletic Director and Head Women’s Golf Coach. Through the years, Hess has made 52 trips to National Tournaments (36 as a head coach and 16 as an assistant), and most recently lead the Pilots in capturing the 2021 NCCAA Women’s Golf National Championship. Hess has coached 22 NCCAA All-Americans, 6 NCCAA Scholar-Teams, and has received numerous Regional, Conference, and National Coach of the Year honors. Hess has directly served the NCCAA in multiple ways, including as Men’s Golf Chair/Vice Chair for four years and Women’s Golf Chair for five years and counting. Hess’ greatest strengths have always been his humble service and his mentoring of student-athletes. He has deeply impacted an untold number of student-athletes across a variety of sports, including athletes in sports he has never coached. With over 35 years of service in higher education and athletics, Chris Lahm has served as Athletic Director, Basketball Coach, Dean of Enrollment, Dean of Students, Campus Minister, and educator at various colleges across the Midwest. Dedicating over fifteen years of that to Ozark Christian College, Lahm currently serves as Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball coach for the Ambassadors. Lahm has coached numerous NCCAA Scholar-Athletes and All-Americans over the years and was honored as Regional Coach of the Year three times in 1995-1996, 1997-1998, 2001-2002 and National Coach of the Year in 1997-1998. Lahm’s influence goes far beyond Ozark’s campus. He has been an active leader in the NCCAA for many years, hosting tournaments, raising money, leading regions, and serving on the Board of Directors. Lahm has provided outstanding leadership to so many over the years and has been an exemplary ambassador for the cause of Christian college education and athletics. Goetsch, Hess, and Lahm will officially be inducted at the Hall of Fame Dinner on June 2, 2022 during the NCCAA Annual Convention being held in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The purpose of the Hall of Fame Award is to recognize individuals who have given outstanding leadership and/or service to the NCCAA. Individuals should have high moral character and Christian integrity; presently be making a positive contribution by serving the Lord and society; and maintain a continued interest in Christian higher education and intercollegiate athletics.
