Greenville, SC - The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announces an agreement with Crown College and North Central University (NCU) as hosts for the Division II Men’s and Women’s Basketball National Championships for the 2023-24 through 2025-26 academic years.

Dan Wood, NCCAA Executive Director said, “We are excited for the Twin Cities area to host our Division II Basketball Championships utilizing multiple venues. Crown College and North Central University are two outstanding members, and we know that the collective team that Michael Vigue and Mike Knipe have assembled will do a tremendous job. Plus, the ability to put the #KingChasing efforts into the local communities adds to the Kingdom impact of NCCAA Championships.”

Each year in March, these events will be held on the campuses of Crown College and North Central University. The details of how each championship will rotate between the two campuses will be released at a later date.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with the NCCAA to host the Division II Basketball Championships,” Crown College Director of Athletics Michael Vigue stated. “This is a unique and exciting opportunity for Crown College and our entire community. Crown College and the NCCAA are both deeply committed and aligned with keeping Christ at the center of our student-athlete experience.” Vigue added, “We look forward to hosting a premier National Championship experience on our campus for everyone to enjoy.”

NCU Director of Athletics Mike Knipe said, “North Central University is so honored to host the NCCAA Division II Basketball Championships. We firmly believe in the mission of the NCCAA and are excited to welcome so many of our sister schools to the great city of Minneapolis, Minnesota for not only great basketball, but more so, the opportunity to represent Christ in another way.”

The Crown College Athletic Center, home to Crown’s basketball and volleyball teams, features a brand-new resurfaced court with updated Polars branding as of June 2022. The facility features two NCAA regulation courts, seats 750 fans, and is one of the loudest gyms in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, providing a great atmosphere for players and fans.

The Clark-Danielson Gymnasium serves as the home of North Central’s basketball and volleyball teams. The historic Clark-Danielson floor was updated in spring 2016 with Minneapolis Skyline graphics and a two-tone varnish design that makes it a one-of-a-kind home for the Rams. In 2014, automatic, roll-out bleachers were installed that feature over 100 seats with seat backs.

The championships will feature a Christian Service Project (CSP) in which student-athletes and coaches have opportunities to serve the local community. CSP’s can be donating items such as toys, socks, diapers, and more to those in need or actively serving through sports clinics, yard work, cleaning a church, etc. Details of CSP’s will be released closer to the event dates.

“Crown College is honored to hold these great championships on our campus,” said Crown College President Dr. Andrew Denton. “We are thrilled to be part of the NCCAA, and it is a privilege to host these events for student-athletes to compete at a high level while honoring Christ through their play.”

Dr. Scott Hagan, NCU President stated, "Hearing that NCU had been selected as a host site of the NCCAA Division II Basketball Championships was incredible news for our campus. Minneapolis is a wonderful city, and we are extremely excited to host these great championships.”
