Kansas City, MO (5/18/23) - Concordia University Ann Arbor (CUAA) captured its third NCCAA Softball National Championship (1998, 1999) after defeating No. 5 Trinity Christian College 8-1. The Cardinals came out swinging, knocking an impressive 15 hits as a team. A homer in the first inning and back-to back homers in the second would prove to be too much for the Trolls to recover from. Koryn Playford led the offense with 2 homeruns and 2 RBI's. Payton Lewis added a homer while Jada Stephenson drove in 3 RBI's off of 2 hits. Pitching a complete game, Paige Anderson allowed just 4 hits, 3 walks, and struckout 6 batters. 

Concordia Ann Arbor began pool play with an 8-0 win in 5 innings over No. 7 Arlington Baptist University. Pitcher Paige Anderson allowed just 1 hit and 3 walks, while Shannon McAlinden provided plenty of offensive power as she crushed 2 homeruns and tallied 5 RBI's. The Cardinals then defeated No. 6 Paine College 3-0 as pitcher Elyse Brittan allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 8 batters in her 6 innings of work. Katie Tobias was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, while Sarah Tyrrell finished 3-for-3 with an RBI. In their final pool play game, the Cardinals fell 6-5 in 9 innings against No. 3 Southwestern Christian University. CUAA led 5-1 through 5 innings, but would allow the Eagles to tie it in the 6th inning and eventually lost in walk-off fashion in the 9th. Brittain was 2-for-4 with 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's.

Anderson provided another strong pitching performance in the Cardinals' semifinal matchup with No. 1 Mid-America Christian University. She picked up the complete-game 5-0 victory, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks, while striking out 2 batters. CUAA was led offensively by Tobias and Brittain who each tallied 2 RBI's in the win.
