Bob Jones University and Great Lakes Christian College Advance to Championship Final

Kissimmee, FL – #1 Bob Jones University and #3 Great Lakes Christian College clinched spots in the 2024 NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship match, as the Bruins rolled to a 5-0 win over #4 Southwestern Adventist University to win Pool A, while the Crusaders tied #2 Providence University College 0-0, advancing to the championship match via the goal differential tie breaker.

A big night from Celeste Baladi pushed #1 Bob Jones University to a 5-0 win over #4 Southwestern Adventist University and into the 2024 NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship match. 
 
  • The Bruins took the lead in the 29th minute, as Celeste Baladi found Mia Marks inside the box to give Bob Jones a 1-0 advantage.
  • Bob Jones increased their lead later in the frame, as Baladi found the back of the net to put the top-seeded Bruins ahead 2-0 in the 38th minute.
  • Baladi wasted no time extending the lead for Bob Jones, scoring her second goal of the match in the 41st minute off a pass from Francesa Peters, swelling the advantage to 3-0. 
  • Bob Jones continued to roll in the second half, as Estrella Cruz scored in the 52nd minute to put BJU up 4-0. Four minutes later, Shannon Miller put Bob Jones on top 5-0, after Mia Marks picked up the assist. 
  • Margaret Cummings and Kali Jackson combined for the shutout win, with Cummings picking up a save.
 
#3 Great Lakes Christian College 0, #2 Providence University College 0
 
#3 Great Lakes Christian College punched their ticket to the national championship match in a defensive slugfest, taking a 0-0 draw against #2 Providence University College.
 
  • Providence University College had a chance early in the match, but a nice save by Malia Fry kept the match scoreless.
  • Halle Owen had a chance on goal for the Pilots early in the second half, but the shot grazed the woodwork and fell harmlessly to the turf.
  • Serena Negrich looked to draw first blood in the 75th minute, but another save from Fry kept the match scoreless.
  • Fry came up big again in the 85th minute, stopping a run by Ava Temple. With 43 seconds remaining, Negrich got another shot, but Allie Ferrall came up with a big-time deflection, and Great Lakes Christian advances to the championship match thanks to the 0-0 draw.
