Grace College Wins NCCAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Grace College took home the 2024 NCCAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championship on Friday, May 10.
 
The Lancers earned 165 points to earn their second straight women’s outdoor track & field title, pulling away from Campbellsville University who finished second with 122 points, and Bethel University, who finished third with 119 points. 
 
Grace College finished in first place in the discus, 5000-meter run, and the 4x800 meter relay, while also completing the first, second, and third place sweep in the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs. The Lancers picked up a silver medal in the 400-meter run. 

Emma Johnson of Columbia International University was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Meet, breaking three NCCAA records and picking up a trio of first place finishes. Emma Johnson was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team of Trinyty Gregory, Charlette Johnson, and Morgan Johnson, that set a new meet record, winning the race with a time of 45.73 seconds. That mark beats the old record of 46.00 seconds set in 2014. Emma Johnson also finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with an NCCAA record time of 13.82 seconds, smashing the previous mark of 13.90 seconds set in 2013. Emma Johnson closed out her afternoon with a record-setting victory in the 100-meter dash, winning the race with a time of 11.58 seconds. That time beats the previous national record mark of 11.64 seconds set in 2014. Emma Johnson also finished third in the 200-meter with a time of 24.48 seconds

Alexia Schofield of Campbellsville was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Meet. Schofield set a new NCCAA record while taking first place in the long jump with a distance of 6.01 meters. That mark beats the distance of 5.94 meters set in 2008 by Sarah Ennslen of Cedarville University. Schofield also finished first place in the triple jump and the 200-meter run.

Lena Korte of Concordia University Ann Arbor set a new NCCAA record in the shot put with a toss of 14.74 meters, beating the old mark of 14.25 meters set in 2012 by Shaylee Carlock of York University.
