VIDEO: Day Two Recap

Palm Coast, FL – A much calmer day at the 2026 NCCAA Men’s & Women’s Golf National Championships resulted in tightening toward the top of the team standings going into National Championship Wednesday.

Through two rounds of play, last year’s National Champions OUAZ and Wayland Baptist University remained tied for first on the men’s side. OUAZ and Wayland Baptist continued to replicate each other’s rounds each recording a 302 (+14) second round, two strokes better than their round one team scores. On the women’s side, Wayland Baptist also remained in front, resulting in no changes in the team leaderboard. Wayland Baptist traded the lead with defending National Champion Bethel University throughout the day but ultimately improved their advantage to four strokes with a strong final two holes.

Men’s Highlights:
  • Defending champion OUAZ saw four of their five golfers improve on yesterday’s scores to remain tied for first place going into the final day. Liam Toole led the Spirit with 73 (+1), tallying birdies on three holes. All four counted cards for OUAZ in round two were in the 70’s, with overall individual leader Corly McLernon being the only Spirit player not to improve on his round one 71 (-1) score.
  • Sacha Brendle and Maxime Olivo led Wayland Baptist on day two of the NCCAA Men’s Golf National Championship. Brendle shot a 74 (+2), one stroke better than his day one score, to lead the Pioneers. Olivo recorded an outstanding end to his round, highlighted by the lone eagle of round two on hole 15, finishing the day with a 75 (+3).
  • Bethel University recorded the best round of any team on day two of the NCCAA Men’s Golf National Championships with a 301 (+13). Amaury Wouters led the Pilots with a 74 (+2), moving up two spots in the individual standings to improve his chances at earning All-American honors.
  • Tanner Doeden of the University of Northwestern temporarily took the tournaments individual lead after an outstanding first nine holes where he was two under par. He was unable to keep pace on the back nine though, finishing with a 74 (+2) to keep yesterday’s leader Corley McLernon of OUAZ in first place overall after 36-holes.
  • DJ Waller of Bob Jones University did what Corley McLernon of OUAZ did yesterday, becoming the only player to shoot under par on day two of the tournament. Waller matched McLernon’s tournament best round 71 (-1) after tallying three birdies on the day.
  • The 18th hole was where the most players saw success on day two, as nine birdies were recorded.

Women’s Highlights:
  • Isabelle Victoria Soh of Wayland Baptist University matched her round one score of 75 (+3) to continue to lead the individual field. Marissa Armendariz improved by eight strokes for the Pioneers to help the team record a 316 (+28) and add one stroke to their lead over Bethel.
  • Bethel University teammates Ellie Webster and Karisa Dyer moved into a tie for fourth individually after completing their second round. Webster led the Pilots on the day with a 78 (+4) recording a crucial birdie on hole 18 to highlight her play.
  • OUAZ recorded the best team score in round two on the women’s side with a 312 (+66). The score allowed them to gain four strokes toward Wayland Baptist’s team leading card. Tanli Lemoyne of the Spirit saw the most improvement from round one to round two, improving by 15 strokes on the day.
  • Morgan Philyaw of the University of Northwestern was among the first wave of women to finish continuing her consistency to lead the individual competitors. The senior shot a 76 (+4) for the second straight day, recording one birdie and 12 pars to remain tied for second overall.
  • Camille Short of Grace College birdied her final two holes of the day to improve her round two score by one stroke at 76 (+4) to sit third on the individual leaderboard.
  • University of Toccoa Falls saw Allison Minchew forced to withdraw due to illness in round two of her first NCCAA Women’s Golf National Championship. Despite the difficult circumstances, the Screaming Eagles were able to improve on yesterday’s team score by 11 strokes.
  • Hole two and 18 proved to be the most successful on day two for the women as four birdies were recorded on each.
