Crown College, Randall University Record Upset Wins in Quarterfinals of 2026 NCCAA DII Women's Basketball National Championship 3/12/2026 11:24:06 PM Minneapolis, M.N. – Quarterfinal action began at the 2026 NCCAA DII Women’s Basketball National Championship, with #1 Champion Christian College, #3 Calvary University, #5 Randall University, and #10 Crown College all moving on to the semifinals. Quarterfinal One: #5 Randall University 71, #4 Welch College 66 Alex Collins and Tristyn Kirkes combined for 55 points, as #5 Randall University upended #4 Welch College in the quarterfinals 71-66. Both teams traded buckets early, before a layup and three-pointer from Karilyn Wieting put Welch on top 13-9 halfway through the first quarter. Weiting added another make from distance to end the opening frame, and the Flames took a 16-11 lead after one. The Flames were hot to open the second quarter, as a Faithe Johnstone layup and a triple from Lindsey Wright pushed the Welch lead to 23-13. Randall responded with a 12-0 run, highlighted by a deep three from Chrissa Gomez and a pair of layups from Nailiyah McLaurin, before an Alex Collins triple put the Saints ahead 25-23. Wright and Tristyn Kirkes traded shots from beyond the arc, and another shot from distance from Collins put Randall ahead 36-31 at halftime. After a quick five point burst from Weiting opened the third quarter for Welch, Kirkes connected with two more threes, and a Collins layup swelled the Saints lead to 46-35. Collins and Dani Dawson traded threes for both sides, but a steal and score from Collins ended the period with Randall on top 54-44. The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle early, highlighted by a block for Randall from McLaurin to keep the Saints up by 10. Kirkes continued to keep the hot hand, as she connected on an and-one play to put Randall ahead 60-49 with 4:59 remaining in the game. Kayla Northrup hit a nifty layup to keep Welch within striking distance, and another make from beyond the arc by Lindsey Wright put the Flames down by just six, but a McLaurin layup iced the contest for the Saints, with Randall taking the 71-66 win. Kirkes finished the night with 24 points, draining five shots from deep while adding seven rebounds and three assists. Collins finished with 21 points and nine boards while also tallying three steals. Wieting scored 23 points and hauled in 13 rebounds in the loss for Welch, while Wright scored 20 points with six makes from three. Quarterfinal Two: #3 Calvary University 71, #6 North Central University 67 Third-seeded Calvary University had four players score in double figures as the Warriors held off a late rally from #6 North Central University to pick up the 71-67 win. NiNi Davenport gave North Central a quick lead in the first quarter, but Tyonna Garcia went to work for Calvary, as a layup and three-ball from the center put the Warriors up 17-12. Lydia Schroeder and Kaye Serapio ended the quarter with a pair of makes for the Rams, and the opening frame ended with Calvary ahead 17-16. Garcia continued to roll in the second quarter, nailing a pair of shots to put Calvary ahead 23-19. Serapio answered with an and-one connection to give NCU the lead, and a Davenport make from distance put the Rams ahead 29-25. Taylor Hunter responded with a three of her own, and a make from distance by Reagan Daly put Calvary back in front 31-29. Hunter blocked a last second shot for NCU at the buzzer, and the Warriors took a 33-29 lead into the halftime locker room. Daly hit two more shots from distance to open the third quarter for Calvary, and a pair of Ruthie Dougherty layups put the Warriors ahead 45-37. Another Davenport make from three ended the Calvary run, and shots from Mariah McLendon cut the Warrior lead to 47-44 late in the third. Garcia continued to work inside for the Warriors, as her layup with just over ten seconds left in the period had Calvary on top 51-48 heading into the final frame. Davenport again connected from beyond the arc to get the Rams back in the contest, but a big three-ball from Reagan Daly put the Warriors up 59-54 in the fourth quarter. Dougherty and Daly teamed up with back-to-back triples to swell the Warrior lead to 65-56, but again, Davenport hit a triple and a Jackie Lindsay layup had North Central down 70-67 with 1:51 left. The Rams forced a late Calvary turnover, and Lindsay had an open look from distance to tie the game with 27 seconds left, but the shot rimmed out, and Calvary held on for the 71-67 victory. Garcia led all scorers with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding three blocks. Hunter scored 11 points and pulled down 10 boards, while Maiya Reed flirted with a triple-double, scoring eight points, pulling down six rebounds and dishing out eight assists. Davenport led NCU with 20 points, making six three-pointers, while also pulling down five rebounds. Quarterfinal Three: #1 Champion Christian College 80, #9 Emmaus University 65 Top-seeded Champion Christian College held #9 Emmaus University to just 20% from the floor in the fourth quarter, pulling away to the 80-65 victory in quarterfinal action. Both sides traded buckets in the first frame, before a Lauren Castillo three-pointer halfway through the period put Champion Christian ahead 14-11. Cassie Dahn added a pair of layups to put the Tigers ahead by five, and Castillo answered an Erin McKenna three from Emmaus to keep Champion Christian ahead 24-19 at the end of the first quarter. Dahn opened the second quarter with another layup for the Tigers, and a fastbreak layup from Jordan Hammons put Champion Christian ahead 35-27. Emmaus answered with another triple from McKenna, and a shot from distance by Amelia Mackey along with a Rachel Barrett layup tied the contest 37-37. Champion Christian responded with a 12-2 run, sparked by threes from Castillo and Olivia Sepulvado, but a make from downtown from McKenna halted the Tiger run, with Emmaus trailing 49-42 at the half. Layups from Sepulvado and Dahn helped the Tigers keep Emmaus at bay to open the third quarter, but a triple from Marina Keck had the Eagles down just 56-51 late in the period. Jaylen Edmonson answered a jumper from Aubry Silva with a big three, and a Natalia Silva layup ended the third quarter with Champion Christian on top 63-55. Hammons helped spark the Champion Christian offense in the fourth quarter, scoring three straight buckets to put the Tigers ahead 69-57 halfway through the period. Keck added a layup to get the deficit down to single digits, and a Mackey jumper kept Emmaus in striking distance, but a late three from Jaylen Edmonson and two more layups for Hammons helped the Tigers fend off the pesky Eagles and earn the 80-65 win. Six different Tigers finished the game with double digit scoring efforts, led by Hammons with 18 points, along with five rebounds and three steals. Barrett finished with a double-double for Emmaus, scoring 20 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Quarterfinal Four: #10 Crown College 85, #2 Pensacola Christian College 66 Morgan Bednarek had a double-double in the first half, as her and Brayli Reimer combined for 44 points to help #10 Crown College upset #2 Pensacola Christian College 85-66 in the final quarterfinal game of the day. The Polars plunged out of the gate with a 15-4 run in the first quarter, highlighted by layups from Morgan Bednarek, Brayli Reimer, and Sydney Cotten. A pair of deep balls from Reagan Moilan kept Pensacola Christian within striking distance, but a Brekyn Hanson triple at the end of the stanza had Crown up 26-12 after the first. Sky Boyd and Amy Ahrens added a pair of layups to open the second quarter for the Eagles, but great ball movement from Crown led to a Bednarek layup, and a triple for Reimer swelled the Polar advantage to 38-19. Cotten added yet another jumper for Crown to end the half, and the Polars took a commanding 43-26 lead into the locker room. Brooklyn Bosher and Boyd got the offense going early in the third quarter for Pensacola Christian, but layups from Bednarek and Kendall Clark pushed the Polar lead to 49-30. Moilan hit another three and then a pair of jumpers to cut the deficit to 11, but an and-one chance at the end of the period was converted by Reimer, and Crown took a 60-46 lead into the fourth quarter. Crown couldn’t miss in the fourth, as Cassie Glasgow, Hanson and Youngblood all hit threes to open the final frame, swelling the lead to 69-48. Another Cassie Glasgow three pushed the Polar lead to 21, and with 4:39 left in the game, Bednarek hauled in her 22nd rebound of the game, setting a new single game record for rebounds in a game for Crown College. Boyd added a layup to cut the Crown lead to under 20, but a Kendall Bogley three ball was the icing on the cake for Crown, as the Polars rolled to the 85-66 upset win. Bednarek scored 21 points and hauled in 22 rebounds in her record breaking day, while also adding four steals and two assists. Reimer flirted with a triple-double for Crown, scoring 23 points with nine rebounds and nine assists. Boyd picked up a double-double for Pensacola Christian with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Consolation Game One: #8 Providence University College 81, #7 Manhattan Christian College 58, Eight-seed Providence University College had nine different players make a three-pointer, as the Pilots rolled to a 80-58 win over #7 Manhattan Christian College in a consolation contest. After being held off the scoreboard for the first 3:19 of the contest, Providence answered with an authoritative 16-1 run, highlighted by a pair of makes from distance by Faith LaRocque and a pair of jumpers by Adrian Alley and Lily Anderson to take a 16-4 advantage. Manhattan Christian responded with a pair of long distance connections from Tatum Milenski and Tahlia Morris to end the first quarter, with the Thunder down 17-12. The Pilots found their stroke from distance in the second quarter, with Alley, Patience Benjoe and Samantha Begen nailing three straight shots from beyond the arc to put Providence ahead 28-16. LaRocque and Avery Brown kept the shots coming from deep, and a nice pass from Briana Buchan found LaRocque in the paint to end the half, with Providence rolling up 41-22. The Pilots continued to pour it on in the third, with Anderson and Sydney Last connecting on a pair of layups, before a corner three from Benjoe put Providence ahead 57-32. The lead swelled to 30 at the end of the stanza, as Jamie Didomenicantonio nailed a shot from the elbow to beat the buzzer and put the Pilots ahead 66-36. LaRocque added her fifth make from distance in the fourth, and Colby Darragh got in on the barrage from three, as Providence finished the game with 15 makes from distance, knocking off Manhattan Christian 81-58. LaRocque led all scorers with 21 points, while also pulling down 11 rebounds. Despite the loss, Nekayla Williams was fantastic for the Thunder, scoring 19 points while pulling down 16 rebounds.
