VIDEO PLAYLIST: #KingChasing Pocast Summer Mission Trip Series
GREENVILLE, S.C. – This summer, NCCAA Communications Coordinator Richard Martin sat down with NCCAA student-athletes who served on different mission trips at home and abroad, sharing their stories on the #KingChasing Podcast.
In all, the NCCAA shared the stories of 20 student-athletes from 10 different member institutions on their trips to 10 different countries. On these trips, several of our student-athletes helped with construction projects, sports camps, medical missions, and shared the Gospel with those they encountered.

Carlie Blevins – Faith Baptist Bible College – Portugal & Spain
During their time on the Camino de Santiago trail, Carlie Blevins and the Faith Baptist Bible College (FBBC) Cross Country team traversed over 130 miles, talking to people who were also making the hike to Santiago, Spain, sharing the Gospel with those around them. In this episode, Blevins discusses the long journey she and the FBBC team took over two weeks, how she grew in her faith and as a team during the trip, and how she has been convicted to be bolder in sharing the Gospel.

Hannah Skaggs – Ohio Christian University – Uganda
During her time in Uganda, Hannah Skaggs helped serve with Sufficiency of Scripture (SOS) Ministries and Joni and Friends to help make wheelchairs for disabled members of the village, donate school supplies to Legacy Christian Academy, and shared the Gospel with students at the Shepherd Training Center. In this episode, Skaggs discusses how she was able to go on the trip, the ways she served the people of Uganda, and how God showed her how to slow down and take in everything while serving.

Lily Baalman – Great Lakes Christian College – Dominican Republic
During her time in the Dominican Republic, Lily Baalman and her Great Lakes Christian College Women’s Soccer teammates played soccer with children at the GO Ministries Sports Complex and helped with construction projects with a local family, while also serving in the nearby neighborhood. In this episode, Baalman discusses how she was able to use the NCCAA Sports Ministry Fund for the trip, the universal language of soccer, and how she is using what she did in another country on her campus.

Marcus Bauman & Natalie Jensen – Manhattan Christian College – Philippines
During their time in the Philippines, Marcus Bauman and Natalie Jensen, along with several other Manhattan Christian College student-athletes, partnered with the Trash Mountain Project to help with sports camps and participate in worship services with local children who live in areas at or near trash dumps. In this episode, the duo discusses how they experienced life in and around trash for the first time, the joy of the Lord on the faces of the children they served, and how God helped change their mindsets during their trip.

Hope Brooks, Abby Matney, & Ryan Vanderboegh – Pensacola Christian College – Philippines
During their time in the Philippines, Hope Brooks, Abby Matney and Pensacola Christian College (PCC) Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Ryan Vanderboegh, along with other PCC student-athletes, helped with sports camps for children in the area along with assisting with nursing clinics for those in need while sharing the Gospel. In this episode, the group discusses the eye-opening experiences they had while serving in the villages, how they grew as teammates and classmates, and how they can take the lessons they learned serving overseas back to their campus.

Trinity Britton & Isabella Mayes – Asbury University – Costa Rica
During their time in the Costa Rica, Trinity Britton and Isabella Mayes, along with their Asbury University Women’s Basketball teammates, worked with Roblealto, a non-profit organization whose mission is to care for children and adolescents in Costa Rica who are socially vulnerable and require specialized care for their proper integral development. In this episode, the group discusses the work their teammates put in on the trip, how they rediscovered the joy of the Lord through the children with whom they worked, and how this trip differed from other mission trips on which they have served.

Kingsiah Oquendo – Lancaster Bible College – Costa Rica
During his time in Costa Rica, Kingsiah Oquendo, along with his Lancaster Bible College Track & Field teammates, partnered with High Performance Sports (HPS) Costa Rica, to help with various ministries such as volunteering with widows in the area, holding sports camps for children, and buying food for those in need. In this episode, the Oquendo discusses how the trip came together, his time playing with the children at the orphanage, and how God helped him step out of his comfort zone during the trip.

Sydney Anderson, Jennika Beach & Kaitlan Rahn – Pensacola Christian College & Emmaus University – Guatemala
During their time in Antigua, Guatemala, Sydney Anderson, Jennika Beach and Kaitlan Rahn hosted volleyball camps for children, prayed for women and children in the safehouse, and did home visits to people in the area. In this episode, all three ladies discuss what God taught them during their time in Guatemala, how they grew closer with the other members on their trip, and how their time in Antigua helped shape how they approach returning to campus for the new school year.

Gabriella Widman – Faith Baptist Bible College – Kosovo
During her time in Kosovo, Gabriella Widman helped with basketball camps for local school children, shared her faith with local members of the community, and visited missionaries serving in the area. In this episode, Widman discusses how she grew in sharing her faith over the summer, how she handled being by herself in a foreign country for seven weeks, and the experiences of the missionaries in Kosovo.
Julia Galdamez, Anela Sandobal, Madison Woodward – Azusa Pacific University – Mexico
During their time in Mexico, Julia Galdamez, Anela Sandobal, and Madison Woodward, along with the rest of the Azusa Pacific University Women’s Soccer team, helped build a house for a local family, played soccer with children in the migrant camps, and led devotions for those around them. In this episode, the trio discuss how the experience opening preseason camp with a mission trip helped the team grow closer together, how they were able to work together to build a house in just three days, and how they interacted with the local community.

Isaiah & Michael Maggard – Alice Lloyd College – Thailand & Tennessee
During his time in Thailand, Michael Maggard was able to help local school children learn English, helped with sports camps, and served a local missionary family. Both Michael and his brother Isaiah Maggard finished the summer at camp, supervising the young boys there and sharing the Gospel with them over the summer. In this episode, the pair discuss the variety of differences between serving in Thailand and Tennessee, the intentionality in serving, and how God moved at home and overseas.
