Congratulations Ohio Christian University the 2014 NCCAA Men’s Basketball DII National Champions!

The Trailblazers from Circleville, OH were the defending 2013 National Champions and came into the 2014 Championship as the #1 seed. Ohio Christian faced #9 Pensacola Christian in the first game of the championship. The Trailblazers defeated the Eagles of Pensacola with a final score of 69-63 to advance to the final four. Ohio Christian met Grace Bible in the semifinals and won by a large margin, final score of 79-64 putting them into the finals.

Ohio Christian would meet the #2 seed Arlington Baptist after the Patriots from Arlington, TX defeated North Central and Lancaster Bible on their way to the National Championship Title game.

In the 2014 NCCAA National Championship Title game Ohio Christian kept the lead for most of the game, leading 46-36 at half, then adding another 45 in the second half to Arlington’s 33, to finish 91-69.

NCCAA Player of the Year, Wesley Russell from Ohio Christian, scored 27 points, 6 assists, and 9 total rebounds in the championship game. Two additional Ohio Christian players scored double digits in the final, Ernie McCoy had 18 and Nic Baker had 12. Arlington Baptist’s Jeremiah Ford led the Patriots with a total of 20 points in the final game.
