On September 18, 2012 Coach Vickie Denny achieved her 900th career win. The 2012 Lady Cougars volleyball team defeated NCCAA South Region opponent Florida Christian College with a 3-0 sweep (final scores 25-15; 25-7; 25-11). This win secured Coach Denny’s already achieved membership in an elite group of coaches; as of the women’s volleyball coaching records through 2011 only seven active coaches in the NCAA have met their 900th win.
Dr. Vickie Denny, Professor of Exercise and Sport Science and Teacher Education and Chair of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at Clearwater Christian College, also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). A contributing writer to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) journal “Volleyball ACE™ Power Tips,” Dr. Denny has lent her coaching expertise to volleyball clubs across the country. Some of her accomplishments include NCCAA II District Coach of the Year seven consecutive years; NCCAA II Regional Coach of the Year for a total of nine years; NCCAA II National Tournament Coach ’94-’96; NCCAA II National Coach of the Year ‘95, ’97, ‘04, ‘07, ’08; and NCCAA Hall of Fame Inductee class of 2005.
Not only does Coach Denny deliver during the regular season, but also in the championships. Of CCC’s 12 Division II NCCAA National Volleyball Championship titles, 6 were consecutive wins. The Clearwater Christian College Lady Cougars are a force to be reckoned with, and stand as one of the leaders in the NCCAA Division II schools.
Coach Vickie Denny has 34 years of coaching experience on various levels of competition. She has coached at the college level for 30 years and is beginning her 24th year at CCC. She has also directed summer volleyball camps and clinics for the past twenty-nine years. Coach Denny's overall goal for the volleyball program is to see young women grow and develop in their love for the Lord and in their love for the sport of volleyball.
