Mitchell Moody Named 2022 DII Cross Country King Award Recipient

Greenville, SC - The NCCAA is pleased to announce Mitchell Moody of Welch College as the 2022 Elvin and Joyce King Award Recipient for Division II Men’s Cross Country.
 
29268Moody, a senior from Gallatin, Tennessee, has consistently and intentionally encouraged others to grow in their faith, having led several Bible studies on campus. Moody has been instrumental in the development of the character and spiritual growth program in the athletic department through his service on the student council leadership team. Additionally, he has played in the chapel band at Welch College as well as played the piano and viola at a local church.
 
Moody has qualified for the NCCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country National Championship all four years of his career. He produced his career-best 8k time this year with a finish of 30:30. The mathematics and music education major holds a 3.97 GPA and has been named to the Presidents Honor Roll four years. Moody has also been named the Music Student of the Year and the Welch College Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
 
Head Coach Matt Bracey shared, “Mitchell has a servant’s heart, and it has shown through his leadership on campus. He has been a model student-athlete who loves the Lord and strives to glorify Him in all he does.”
 
Award Description
Elvin and Joyce King were instrumental in the development and growth of both cross country and track & field within the NCCAA. Elvin served as meet director and National Sport Chair in each sport for many years, while Joyce was the point person administratively for the championship meets. Elvin's teams won nine NCCAA Cross Country National Championships and he was named NCCAA Coach of the Year eight times. Elvin and Joyce served alongside each other for over 40 years at Cedarville and worked tirelessly to make an impact for Christ. The NCCAA is proud to present this award in recognition of Elvin and Joyce King's legacy of service.
