Leah Grady Named 2022 DII Women's Volleyball Dr. Vickie Grooms Denny Award Recipient

Greenville, SC - The NCCAA is pleased to announce Leah Grady of Calvary University as the 2022 Dr. Vickie Grooms Denny Award Recipient for Division II Women's Volleyball.
 
29297A middle blocker from Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, Grady has ranked nationally in various statistical categories over her volleyball career at Calvary. Averaging 2.77 kills, 0.76 blocks, and 3.86 points per set, this year Grady ranks in the top-20 of those categories. She was voted Second Team All-Regional in 2021 and First Team All-Regional 2022, as well as All-Regional honorable mention in 2020.  
 
Grady is a two-year team captain and leads her team by example. Even before achieving captain status she was a valued leader for her team, pushing her teammates to commit to scripture memory and to pursue excellence while playing. Grady has ministered to others throughout her life, serving in her local church, sharing the Gospel and discipling children, and spending summers working church camps. She has a strong desire to represent God well in her life.
 
Grady's intelligence is displayed not only on the court, but off, as she holds a 3.99 GPA. In 2021 she graduated summa cum laude with a degree in business administration and is now pursuing a master's degree in organizational development. She has traveled nationally to help open numerous Chick-fil-A's and plans to have her own after graduating. Grady has been a member of the Dean's List at Calvary and has been awarded NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
 
"Leah ministers to her teammates as their leader. She is the first to show up in a timely manner to 6 am workouts three or more times a week. All the other girls see that example in her," stated Head Coach Josh Johnson.

Award Description
As the head coach at Maranatha Baptist College, Clearwater Christian College, and Bob Jones University, her teams have won 18 NCCAA National Championships. An inductee into the NCCAA Hall of Fame (2005), she has served as NCCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Chair, member President, and continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Overshadowing her many accomplishments, it is her pursuit of excellence on and off the court as a reflection of Jesus Christ that stands above the wins. The NCCAA is proud to present this award in recognition of Dr. Vickie Grooms Denny's legacy of service.
