NCCAA Announces New Members for 2023-24

Greenville, SC (5/26/23) - The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) is pleased to announce and welcome its newest members for the 2023-24 academic year: Carolina Christian College, Justice College, Kuyper College, Wayland Baptist University, and Westmont College.
 
NCCAA Executive Director Dan Wood said, “We continue to see a mix of new members utilizing intercollegiate athletics to grow along with past members reconnecting. While each institution is developing at its own pace and for its own unique purposes, all new members are intentionally Christ-centered partners with the NCCAA in keeping Christ at the center of intercollegiate athletics.”

Carolina Christian College
Carolina Christian College, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, will be entering as a Division II member in the South Region. The Centurions will participate in the following NCCAA sports: Men’s & Women’s Basketball, and Men's Soccer.
 
“We are elated to be members of the NCCAA, such a respected and well-established association," stated Dr. Tyrone Tyson, Carolina Christian College Athletic Director. "We are excited to become a valued member and represent the mission of Christian service and athletic competition that this association strives for.”

Wayland Baptist University
Located in Plainview, Texas, Wayland Baptist University will be entering as a Division I member in the Central Region. The Pioneers will participate in the following NCCAA sports: Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country, Football, Men's & Women's Golf, Men’s & Women’s Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field, Men's & Women's Soccer, Softball, and Women’s Volleyball.
 
Wayland Baptist University Director of Athletics, Jim Giacomazzi, said, "I cannot say how thrilled we are to be included in a group of like-minded institutions. Everyone I have spoken to who are members of the NCCAA, have shared what a great experience it is for all student-athletes and coaches. Our coaches are excited about the additional opportunities for our teams to play and receive recognition for the hard their work in the sports they love."

Justice College
Justice College, located in Chandler, Arizona, will be entering as a Division I member in the West Region. The Lions will participate in the following NCCAA sports: Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball.
 
“Justice College is excited to join the NCCAA knowing that we can better fulfill our mission to use athletics to share the hope and love of Jesus Christ,” stated Dr. Palmer Chinchen, Justice College President. “We know the NCCAA will help our programs and our student-athletes thrive, build character, and grow in their relationship with Christ.”

Kuyper College
Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kuyper College will be entering as a Division II member in the Midwest Region. The Cougars will participate in the following NCCAA sports: Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country, Men’s & Women’s Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field, and Women’s Volleyball.
 
Kuyper College Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Coach, Gary Bailey, said, “I have been associated with the NCCAA for almost 20 years and there is no other level that I would rather be involved with. Having the ability to mentor kids for Christ, while coaching will always be the most important thing I do in my profession. When I accepted this position at Kuyper College, there was never a question of what organization we wanted to join and everyone here is very excited to be a part of the NCCAA. I look forward to continuing my relationships with all of the coaches and staff across the country who share the same goals for our student-athletes.”

Westmont College
Westmont College, located in Santa Barbara, California, will be entering as a Division I member in the West Region. The Warriors will participate in the following NCCAA sports: Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country, Men’s & Women’s Golf, Men’s & Women’s Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Men’s & Women’s Tennis, and Women’s Volleyball.
 
“Westmont College Athletics is thrilled to have been accepted into membership with the NCCAA,” stated Robert Ruiz, Westmont College Director of Athletics. “We look forward to giving our student-athletes the opportunity to compete in the National Championships offered by the NCCAA.”
