Jordan White Named 2023 DII Men's Basketball Pete Maravich Award Recipient 3/7/2023 6:57:36 PM Greenville, SC: The NCCAA is pleased to recognize Jordan White of Manhattan Christian College (MCC) as the 2023 Pete Maravich Award recipient for Division II Men’s Basketball. White leads by example through his work ethic and character on and off the court. He’s always the one tasked to guard the opponent’s best player, regardless of position. White leads the team this season in rebounds and assists per game while ranking second in points per game. The senior has had multiple 30-point games in his career, including 33 points in a double overtime loss to eventual NCCAA DII National Champions, Johnson University Tennessee. White has been named First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Regional, Conference MVP, and NCCAA Second Team All-American. The native of Topeka, Kansas has the desire to serve God and people in whatever capacity he is called to do so. White has been involved in many different ministries, including mission trips, camp teams at MCC, and leading a high school Young Life group. While balancing his marriage, job as a pharmacy tech, schoolwork, and basketball, White and his wife are committed to various ministries and small groups in town. In the classroom, he holds a 3.98 GPA in Bible and political science, while having earned honors that include Dean’s list, honor roll, and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete. “Jordan is committed to Christ and has been the same, consistent guy every day for the last four years,” said Head Coach Jordan Strom. “He is the epitome of what we want our student-athletes to be.” Other Finalists Tyler Alarid, Ozark Christian College Seth Royston, Crown College Award Description The purpose of this award is to recognize the outstanding NCCAA student-athlete in Men’s Basketball and highlights excellence in competition, skill, academics, and Christian service during his career. “Pistol Pete” Maravich was known for his ball handling, shooting abilities, and creative passing. He was an NBA All-Star, named one of NBA’s 50 greatest players, and inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. He came to know Christ later in his life and spent the last years of his life pointing people to Christ. Previous Winners
