Cedarville, OH – A strong day one of competition sees host Cedarville University hold a two-point edge over Bethel University in the team standings at the NCCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Championship. Cedarville holds 49 points through six scored events going into tomorrow’s final day. Action will pick up tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. Find more information here.
Track Highlights:
- Track action opened with the women’s 60-meter hurdle prelims. Two heats of athletes competed with seven of the top eight coming from heat one. Makiyah Allen of Campbellsville University cruised to the fastest prelim time of 8.97 seconds, the only athlete to run a sub nine second mark.
- Heat one once again dominated in the 60-meter dash prelims. Faith Yancey from Ohio Christian University took the top qualifying spot by four thousandths of a second over Allea Graves of Malone University. Bethel University took three of the eight qualifying spots.
- Distance race finals opened with the distance medley relay. After a dominant second leg, Cedarville University would take home the title in the event with a time of 12:32.10. Crown College earned their first points of the event with a second-place finish of 12:35.43. Malone University rounded out the All-American spots with a time of 12:40.40.
- The hosts continued to show their strength in the distance events taking first and second in the 5,000-meter. Helen Rhymer won the event for Cedarville University with a time of 18:23.31 and teammate Ella Reaves finished second with a mark of 18:26.10.
- Cedarville University ended the night earning the final 10 points of day one to regain first place as a team. The quartet of Mallory Gasper, Hannah Hardaway, Julie Tompkins, and Ari Tompkins recorded a 1:44.43 time in the 4x200-meter relay to put Cedarville two points ahead of Bethel University.
Field Highlights:
- Elly Bruner of Lancaster Bible College would be the first medalist of the 2026 Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship, taking first in the high jump with a mark of 1.60-meters. She would win the tie with Lydia Gustafson from Columbia International University on faults to give Lancaster Bible their first 10 points of the meet.
- The final field event of day one of the NCCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship was the pole vault. Bethel University saw Gabrielle Zeilenga and Sophia Sumer finish first and second in the event. Zeilenga was .01 meters from a personal best in the event and finished .45 meters better than the next best finisher. Caroline Rimmer of Columbia International University finished third in the event to round out the All-American honors.
Pentathlon Highlights:
- Four athletes would compete in the 2026 NCCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Pentathlon, two being from Bethel University. In the first event of the 60-meter hurdles, Michaela Oglesby of Columbia International University would win the event with a time of 9.81 seconds to earn 748 points.
- After a tough start in the 60-meter hurdles, Brooke Edison of Bethel University responded to win the second event of women’s high jump. She finished with a mark of 1.47 meters to move to 1118 points after two events scored.
- Brooke Edison continued her strong efforts with an 8.02-meter mark in the shot put for Bethel University. The throw was over a meter farther than any other competitor and pushed her closer to the top two. Michaela Oglesby of Columbia International University continued to the lead overall after three events scored with 1616 points.
- In the women’s pentathlon long jump, Skylar Morris of Nelson University would earn her first event victory. She finished with a mark of 4.76 meters to earn 495 points and propel into first place overall. Michaela Oglesby of Columbia International finished second in the long jump with a mark of 4.50 meters to also surpass 2000 points overall.
- In the final pentathlon event of the 800-meter, Skylar Morris of Nelson University secured the overall title with a time of 2:43.82. She finished with 2579 points to be the individual medalist. Michaela Oglesby of Columbia International University took second with 2523 points and Brooke Edison of Bethel University took third with 2254 points.
