NCCAA Meet Record Highlights Day One of the Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship

Cedarville, OH – Lamarr Williams of Bethel University highlighted the individual performances on day one of the 2026 NCCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship, breaking a 12-year-old NCCAA meet record with a time of 6.77 seconds to lead all qualifying times headed into tomorrow’s final. In the team standings, Malone University led the way through five of 19 events scored with 35 points. Heptathlon action picks up tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET. Track Highlights:
  • Track action opened at the 2026 Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship with the 60-meter hurdle prelims. Five of the eight qualifiers for tomorrow’s final ran under nine seconds, with Schavon Carr of Campbellsville University recording the fastest mark at 8.17 seconds. 
  • Lamarr Williams of Bethel University highlighted day one men’s action in the 60-meter dash prelims breaking a 12-year-old NCCAA record. Williams finished with a time of 6.77 seconds to pass Kirk Wilson of Shorter University who held the record since 2014. Williams will be joined by teammates Joshua Harmon and James Gill who also qualified for tomorrow’s final.
  • The men’s distance medley relay was highlighted by a near fieldhouse record from the team from Malone University. Finishing with a time of 10:21.03, just three seconds off the fieldhouse record, Malone would earn first in the event. Greenville University and Cedarville University rounded out the All-American spots finishing second and third respectively. 
  • The trio of Martin Batel (Campbellsville University), Yahya Jawadi (Malone University), and David Helms (Lancaster Bible College) would spend the majority of the 5,000-meter race together trading the lead. Batel would pull away in the final two laps to secure the victory with a mark of 15:06.20, a 12 second personal best in the event. 
  • To end the running events on day one of the NCCAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship, Malone University took home the title in the 4x200-meter to take over first place in the team standings. Just .05 seconds off a facility record, the quarter of Phil Stupka, Bryant Thompson, BJ Robinson, and Sebastian Lacatus earned the Pioneers 10 points. Bethel University took second and Greenville University took third. 
 
Field Highlights:
  • Carolina University got off to a hot start at the 2026 Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship, taking two of the top three spots in the first event scored, the men’s high jump. Lamine Diop would win the event with a mark of 1.95 meters, the only athlete to clear the mark. Teammate Jaylen Killins McIntyre took third to give Carolina 16 early points as a team. 
  • The men’s weight throw was highlighted by a new personal best from Ishmeal Ealoms of Nelson University who won the event with a mark of 16.84 meters. Columbia International University would round out the All-American slots with Cameron Montgomery and Dante Shuler finishing second and third respectively, also both earning personal bests. 
 
Heptathlon Highlights:
  • The 2026 Men’s Indoor Track & Field National Championship Heptathlon opened with Bethel University taking the top two spots in the 60-meter dash out of seven competitors. Christopher Korthuis earned the top mark at 7.09 seconds to earn 851 points and teammate Jack Jewett tallied a time of 7.36 seconds for 759 points.  
  • The Bethel University duo continued their fantastic start to the heptathlon also earning the top two spots in the long jump. Christopher Korthuis once again won the event with a mark of 6.47 meters and Jack Jewett earned second with a jump of 6.39 meters. 
  • Hunter McCaskill of Columbia International University broke up the Bethel duo in the men’s heptathlon shot put, dominating with a mark of 11.38 meters. He finished over a meter better than the next best finisher. Christopher Korthuis of Bethel University would finish second in the shot put to continue to lead the overall standings with 2033 points through three events. 
  • Day one of the heptathlon ended with Jack Jewett of Bethel University winning the high jump over Nelson University's Hudson Woods on faults at 1.83 meters. The Bethel duo of Christopher Korthuiis and Jack Jewett sat first and second overall in the points standings with over 2500 points.
