Oklahoma Baptist University Repeats as Men's Track & Field National Champions

Shawnee, OK:  The Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) Bison are back-to-back NCCAA Men’s Track & Field National Champions. The Bison earned 182 points, as they finished first in 5 of the 22 events and second in 8 events. Dallas Baptist University and Greenville College both finished with 113 points to tie for second.

OBU took first place in the 5000m, Decathlon, Pole Vault, Long Jump, and Triple Jump, while claiming second place finishes in the 200m, 800m, 110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 1500m, 4 x 800m Relay, 3000m Steeplechase, and Decathlon.
 
Two NCCAA records were broken this year. Andrew Worley of Oklahoma Baptist University earned 6655 points in the Decathlon, beating the previous record of 6598. Bethel College’s Erik Escobedo had a distance of 60.77m in the Hammer Throw, topping the previous record of 58.78m.
 
Macallister Seitz of Grace College was named the 2017 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Wheeler Award Recipient. [Story]
