Kate Daugherty Named 2021 Women's Tennis GP4L Award Recipient 5/11/2021 12:20:50 PM Greenville, SC: The NCCAA is pleased to recognize Kate Daugherty of Dallas Baptist University (DBU) as the 2021 Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Award recipient for Women’s Tennis. Two-time team captain Kate Daugherty is a driven individual who is passionate about being successful in all areas of her life. The senior will finish her collegiate career at DBU with a combined singles and doubles record of 61-21. As a junior, Daugherty became the first player in school history to earn an at-large bid to the International Tennis Association (ITA) Cup; finishing the year ranked No. 3 in both Singles and Doubles in the ITA South Central Region. She has been honored various times as Conference Player of the Week and in her first season with the Patriots earned second team All-Conference honors. Daugherty’s leadership spans beyond the tennis court as she often leads Bible studies and organizes service projects and bonding events for her team. She serves as president of the DBU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and is a participant with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The senior will graduate with a degree in biology and chemistry and has earned a 3.9 GPA. Her academic success has earner her ITA Scholar-Athlete, Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and NCAA Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award honors. “Kate always has a respectful attitude towards her opponents and officials,” stated DBU head coach Wade Morgan. “She believes in demonstrating Christian qualities in her play and a big part of that is how she treats opponents. Building relationships through her play is very important to her.” Award Description The purpose of the Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Award is to recognize NCCAA student-athletes who epitomize the Christian character qualities of: LOVE: demonstrating a caring and consistent love for others (I Corinthians 13) INTEGRITY: living out ethical principles in a clear consistent manner (Job 27:5) FAITH: acknowledging a life of faith and sharing that faith with others (Hebrews 11) EXCELLENCE: striving to do all things at the highest standard (Philippians 4:8) Previous Winners
