Belinda Weddle Named 2022 Women's Tennis Dr. Dee Morris Award Recipient 5/9/2022 7:35:40 PM Greenville, SC: The NCCAA is pleased to recognize Belinda Weddle of University of Northwestern (UNW) as the 2022 Dr. Dee Morris Award recipient for Women’s Tennis. A senior from Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Weddle has proven herself to be a quality leader. The two-year captain has competed at No. 1 and 2 singles for the majority of her matches and has a career singles record of 26-19. Weddle helped lead the Eagles to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championship title in 2021. She was named UMAC All-Conference in 2021 and has twice earned UMAC Player of the Week and NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week. Weddle’s leadership has been crucial to growing the team unity and culture within her team. She has been key to the Eagles’ on-campus summer tennis camps, sharing her testimony and leading daily devotionals. Weddle has also helped lead a number of team service projects such as shoe sorting with Good in the Hood and warehouse work with Hearts and Hammers. In the classroom, the professional writing and Biblical studies major has earned a 3.68 GPA, while earning academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, UMAC, and NCCAA. “Belinda is a young woman of the highest character and has been enthusiastic about any opportunity she can find to serve,” stated head coach Matt Swigart. “Watching Belinda bear the fruits of the Spirit, love unconditionally, and serve her teammates well has been inspiring.” Award Description Dr. Dee Morris, a former coach at Cedarville University, has served over 15 years in various leadership roles within NCCAA Tennis. While at Cedarville, she coached numerous All-Americans, Scholar-Athletes, and Game Plan 4 LIFE Award winners. Dee’s assistance in securing the Mobile Tennis Center was pivotal to having a sustainable and outstanding host venue for NCCAA Tennis Championships. She has gone beyond what is required in working with and serving the student-athletes of the NCCAA, and her love for Christ is reflected in all her efforts. Previous Winners
