Bob Jones University Rolls to Second Straight DII Women's Soccer National Championship 11/23/2024 8:40:50 PM Kissimmee, FL – Top-seeded Bob Jones University took home their second straight championship and seventh NCCAA DII Women’s Soccer National Championship in program history, knocking off #3 Great Lakes Christian College 5-0 on Saturday, November 23. #1 Bob Jones University 5, #3 Great Lakes Christian College 0 After surviving an onslaught of shots from Great Lakes Christian early, Sarah Ward took the ball herself inside the box, firing a shot pass the GLCC defense to put Bob Jones ahead 1-0 in the 13thminute. Mia Marks had a chance to score a breakaway goal to extend the BJU lead, but Malia Fry made a pair of incredible saves in the 15th minute to keep the lead at just one. Marks again had a chance to add to the Bruin tally in the 27th minute, but her header went wide. Abby Arrowood opened the scoring in the second half for Bob Jones with her first goal of the season, as Marks found her teammate in the box off a corner kick in the 55th minute, extending the Bruin lead to 2-0. The Crusaders had their best chance to score a goal in the 68th minute, but Margaret Cummings poked it away. Marks picked up her second assist, poking the ball to Francesca Peters who fired it into the back of the net in the 82nd minute to put Bob Jones ahead 3-0. Peters scored again just 58 seconds later, firing a laser from outside the box to swell the lead to 4-0. Marks finally found the back of the net, scoring with less than four minutes left in the contest, and Bob Jones rolled to the 5-0 victory. Bob Jones outshot Great Lakes Christian 25-7 with thirteen shots on goal compared to just one for the Crusaders. Cummings recorded her third shutout of the tournament, picking up one save in the victory. Kali Jackson also saw two minutes of playing time as goalkeeper. Mia Marks of Bob Jones University was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The Bruins’ Celeste Baladi earned the Select Golden Ball Award with six goals scored.
