Wayland Baptist on Top in both Men’s & Women’s Golf Championship Standings After Day One in Florida

PALM COAST, F.L., - After day one of the 2025 NCCAA Men’s & Women’s Golf National Championships, Wayland Baptist University leads both fields. Men’s Highlights
  • Wayland Baptist was the only team to shoot under 300 in the first round, shooting a nine-over, 297 as a group. Nino Mahy paced the Pioneers with a one-under, 71. Mahy opened the day with an eagle on the par-5, 10th hole and ended the afternoon with four straight birdies. Sacha Brendle also recorded an eagle for the Pioneers, carding his on the par-5, 18th hole. 
  • OUAZ holds a six stroke lead over third place, as Columbia International University and Cedarville University are tied with a 19-over, 307. Bethel sits just one stroke behind them in fifth place with a 20-over, 308.
  • Liam Toole of OUAZ sits at second individually at even-par, picking up four birdies and shooting two-under on the front nine at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort.
  • Jakob Swanson from the University of Northwestern sits alone at third place at one-over, with Grant Greazel from OUAZ and Luke Hammond of Columbia International University tied for fourth at two-over. A five-person log jam of Aiden Hibbard (Cedarville University), Earl Williams (Bethel University), Alfie Cracker (Malone University), Sacha Brendle (Wayland Baptist) and Etienne Bocquillon (Wayland Baptist) sit tied at sixth at three-over.
  • Chilton Price from Arlington Baptist University is the leading medalist, sitting tied for 25th
Women’s Highlights
  • Wayland Baptist’s Isabelle Victoria Soh leads all golfers for the women, shooting a one-over, 73 in the first round. Soh picked up four birdies, opening the day with one-under shots in two of her first five holes played to start the week.
  • Morgan Eckman from the University of Northwestern holds on to second place after shooting a three-over, 75. Eckman opened her day shooting one-under on the front nine.
  • Wayland Baptist and Bethel University both have three players inside the top 13 of the standings, as Ellie Webster (T-3rd), Izzy Aigner (T-5th), and Selan Unwin (T-7th) hold down the fort for the Pilots, while Soh (1st), Ellen Lonergan (T-3rd), and Marissa Armendariz (T-7th) keep the Pioneers on top. Webster birdied the 17th and 18th holes to move up to her third-place spot.
  • Both Tristan Wilson of Ohio Christian University and Liz Miller of Cedarville University are the leading medalists, tied in a six-way tie for seventh after shooting a 10-over, 82.
  • Last year’s individual champion, Brette Hanavan of Grace College, currently sits tied for 13th with teammate Trinity Bramer after shooting an 11-over, 83.
 
What’s Next? 
Round two tee times will be structured just as round one was at the Hammock Beach Resort Conservatory Course, with individual qualifiers teeing off at 8:00 a.m. ET for the men, and 8:25 a.m. ET for the women.
