Malone University Wins Second Consecutive NCCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country National Championship

Joplin, MO – Malone University makes it back-to-back NCCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country National Championships after earning 36 points at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri to secure the crown. Malone has now won back-to-back national titles six times in program history as they total 14 overall.

Four of Malone’s top five finished in the top 10 overall to earn NCCAA All-American honors, as they were paced by Kristin Yeager’s 19:30.7 for fourth individually. Kenna Goze of College of the Ozarks was the individual champion and the only athlete to finish in under 19 minutes with a mark of 18:57.3. 

The University of Northwestern earned their highest team finish in program history at second with 47 points, while Asbury University finished third with 82 points. Zack Fresenko of Malone earned NCCAA Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year on the women’s side. 
 
Highlights:
  • NCCAA Dr. Ray Bullock Award recipient Anna Enderle of Bethel University was the top individual qualifier as she finished third overall to earn NCCAA All-American honors with a time of 19:19.4.
  • College of the Ozarks had the top finisher on both the men’s and women’s side, as Kenna Goze won her first individual title. 
  • Malone and Northwestern earned seven of the 10 All-American spots. Kristin Yeager (4th – 19:30.7), Rebekah Stoneman (5th – 19:39.1), Jenna Cassidy (6th – 19:45.0), and Rachel Whetstone (19:55.3) were the four national champion Pioneers who earned NCCAA All-American honors. 
  • Maite Farin of Trinity Christian College was the only underclassman to finish in the top 11, earning a time of 20:24.6.
