PC: Anastasia Noonkesser Day One of NCCAA Division I Men’s Soccer National Championship Sees Two Wins and a Draw 12/1/2025 9:34:54 PM Kissimmee, FL – The top two seeds dominated on day one of the 2025 NCCAA Division I Men’s Soccer National Championship, combining for 10 goals to highlight action. (2) Campbellsville led the way with a 6-0 victory, while (1) Grace won 4-1. The last game of the day saw a 1-1 draw between (3) Judson and (7) Columbia International. Action continues tomorrow at 5 p.m. ET back at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex. Pool A: #1 Grace College 4, #9 Dallas Christian College 1 The nine seed Dallas Christian came out fighting against a strong Grace side, and it resulted in an early goal. Hector Dominguez would find the back of the net in the 23rd minute on a free kick from his own half that bounced perfectly past the defense to make it 1-0. The Lancers would waste no time in response scoring an equalizer in the 29th minute off the foot of Diego Yanes. Yanes shot hit the hands of Crusaders keeper Sebastian Guerrero, but it would dribble past to tie the match at one. Luis Munoz would add a second for Grace in the 38th minute to quickly overcome the early deficit. Munoz was the recipient of a cross where he was able to bury the shot into the bottom corner for his first goal of the tournament. Grace would take the 2-1 edge into the half. Grace would continue to control play in the start of the second half. Juan Garcia found the scoreline on a cross that found him on the back post to give the Lancers a 3-1 lead. The Lancers would slow the pace for the remainder of the second half. The pace allowed Grace to add one more insurance goal on a Joao Pereira goal in the 79th minute to make it 4-1. Top-seeded Grace would hold the 4-1 advantage for the final 10 minutes to secure a tournament opening victory. Pool B: #2 Campbellsville University 6, #8 Ohio Christian University 0 Campbellsville found multiple opportunities early, but David Spicer Jr. the Ohio Christian keeper was up for the challenge making an excellent one handed save to keep the game scoreless in the first five minutes. On the Tigers 11th shot of the match, in the 22nd minute, Izan Garcia Gancedo would find the back of the net to make it 1-0 on a shot that took a pair of deflections to get past the keeper David Spicer Jr. Mihlali Blessi would add a Tiger second goal in the 24th minute off a corner kick. Blessi was able to get the final touch after a half volley on net to make it 2-0 in favor of the Tigers. In the 41st minute Mihlali Blessi would find his second goal of the day and Campbellsville’s third of the match on a beautifully weighted pass from Ollie Jagroop that played Blessi through. The Tigers would take a 3-0 lead into the half. In the second half, Ohio Christian was able to step up their defensive play for the first 20 minutes. In the 66th minute, Eduardo De Filippis would find the net on steal and assist from Andreas Slethaug to make it 4-0 Campbellsville. Mark Horn joined the scoresheet for Campbellsville in the 71st minute to give the Tigers a season high five goals. Horn was able to find the net with his head to continue to add to the lead. Mark Holton would score the final Tigers goal of the day off a rebound to make it a 6-0 final in the first Pool B match of the tournament. Pool C: #3 Judson University 1, #7 Columbia International University 1 Neither side could find a significant chance through the first half hour of the final game of the day, and first of Pool C. Judson outshot Columbia International 6-1 in the first 30 minutes but only one shot was on net. In the final 15 seconds of the first half Columbia International would get their first shot on net, but it was saved by Judson keeper Ivan Dominguez. The match remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play. Judson would start the second half with a crucial penalty kick opportunity after a foul on Columbia International inside the box. Mateo Vadora would be called to the spot and would execute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The defending National Champions held the lead until 10 minutes remaining, as Jonathan Scarpeta of Columbia International found the net on a loose ball in the box to tie the game at one. The two sides would earn a point with the game ending in a 1-1 draw to open play in Pool C. Division I Men’s Soccer pool play will continue tomorrow starting at 5 p.m. ET.
