Kissimmee, FL – Friday’s semifinals are set with Campbellsville University, Grace College, Columbia International, and Nelson University after pool play concluded on Wednesday evening. Goals came early and often as 17 total goals were scored in the three games. Semifinals will take place inside the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex Stadium starting at 3:30 p.m. ET on December 5.

Pool A: #1 Grace College 6, #6 Nelson American Indian College 0
  • In a match that would determine the Pool A winner, top-seeded Grace College wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the seventh minute on a header from Diego Yanes. Yanes was able to fight his way through contact to get to the ball that was crossed in from Sebastian Lozano.
  • Juan Garcia added a second goal for the Lancers just a few minutes later with a rebound at the six-yard box off Nelson American Indian keeper Jonathan Garcia.
  • In the 25th minute the Grace lead would balloon to 3-0 on a low line drive shot from Luis Munoz. The Lancers would take the 3-0 edge into the half.
  • Grace would not slow down in the second half, as Luis Munoz found his second of the match in the 57th minute to give the Lancers a 4-0 lead.
  • The fifth Lancer goal would find side netting. Joao Pereira would use his left foot to find the net off an assist from Juan Garia. Grace would lead 5-0 in the 62nd minute.
  • Grace would get an own goal for good measure to end their time in Pool A. A clearance would go wayward for Nelson American Indian College to make it 6-0.
  • Grace would use substitutes for much of the second half and hold the 6-0 edge to advance to Friday’s semifinals as the two seed.
Pool B: #2 Campbellsville University 6, #5 Ecclesia College 1,
  • Despite playing on the defensive end much of the first half, Ecclesia would earn a free kick in the 16th minute. Colter Hunt would take it; it would deflect off the head of Carlos Guerrero and land at the feet of Carlos Gonzalez. Gonzalez was able to put the ball in the back of the net on a half volley to give the Royals a 1-0 edge.
  • The last half hour, Campbellsville would pepper shots near the Ecclesia goal, but only three were on target. The Royals would maintain the 1-0 lead at the half.
  • Campbellsville continued to dominate the offensive end early in the second half. They would finally breakthrough in the 57th minute after the third of three consecutive shots would find the net off the foot of Izan Garcia Gancedo.
  • The Tigers would score a second a mere nine seconds later after a failed pass on the backline would find the foot of Alessandro Martinez to make it 2-1.
  • After taking the lead, Campbellsville would be content to slow the pace. Despite the slower pace, freshman Alessandro Martinez was able to find the net a second time on a tap in while the Royals defense was clamoring for an offsides call.
  • Malte Ekman would add one more for good measure in the 79th minute. His goal would be the fourth of the half and give Campbellsville the 4-1 edge.
  • Mihlali Blesi would continue to pour it on for the Tigers in the final 10 minutes, earning a penalty kick goal and a breakaway goal just 30 seconds apart. to Campbellsville would lead 6-1 with all goals coming in the second half.
  • Freshman Alessandro Martinez had not scored all year, but his first of two goals today would serve as the game winner in the Tigers 6-1 match victory that would win Pool B and put them in Friday’s semifinal.
Pool C: #4 Nelson University 3, #3 Judson University 1
  • In a match that served as an early playoff with the winner advancing to the semifinals, Judson would take the early edge recording the first five shots of the match.
  • Nelson would respond with two shots of their own and would hold the Eagles from recording a shot for the final 25 minutes of the first half. The match would remain scoreless through the first 45 minutes of play.
  • The game would continue to get more physical as both sides were fighting for the needed goal to advance to the semifinals. With just over 33 minutes to play, Nelson would be the side to get that chance earning a penalty kick. Lions forward Garey Mills would step to the spot and execute in the bottom left corner to make it 1-0.
  • Garey Mills would get a second just over a minute later after a shifty move gave him space to find a shot. Nelson quickly led 2-0.
  • Now needing three goals to advance to the semifinals, the urgency skyrocketed for the defending champions Judson. In the 70th minute the Eagles would earn a penalty kick on a foul away from the ball. Mateo Vadora would score to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
  • Nelson was able to defend just enough in the final 20 minutes to hold off Judson. Garey Mills would complete the hat trick after a mistake from the Judson keeper to secure the 3-1 victory and earn Nelson a trip to the NCCAA Division I Men’s Soccer National Championship Semifinals.
