Strong Offense Helps Jessup University Claim First NCCAA Baseball National Championship

Kansas City, MO – A crucial home run from Rudy Rodriguez in the second inning would help (4) Jessup University take the lead on (7) Mission University and never look back to claim their first NCCAA Baseball National Championship with an 11-5 victory. The Warriors earn a National Championship in baseball less than 24 hours after winning the NCCAA Softball National Championship to secure their third National Title in the 2024-25 year.

Championship: #4 Jessup University – 11, #7 Mission University - 5
  • Mission University started the game with a pair of singles up the middle from Landon Richards and Trey Mulholland to create an immediate scoring opportunity on Jessup University starter Diego Chavez. 
  • Dylan Blehm would hit a bloop double for the Patriots with two outs to score the first run of the game and give Mission the early advantage. 
  • Jessup would immediately respond to tie the game in the top of the second inning. Dominic Ott doubled to lead off the inning and Nick Poss hit an RBI single to tie the game at one. 
  • The very next batter in the top of the second inning, Jessup’s Rudy Rodriguez, would smash a ball over the right field fence to spark the Warriors and give them a 3-1 advantage. 
  • In the bottom of the second inning, Mission would get a run back with an RBI double that was just inside the left field line from Landon Richards. After two innings of play, Jessup would lead 3-2. 
  • Diego Chavez would find his groove on the mound for Jessup in the bottom of the third striking out the side to hold the 3-2 advantage. 
  • Jessup would go to the bullpen with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Tyler Lamperti would take over on the mound inheriting a runner on second base. Lamperti would get a ground out to end the inning, keeping the Warriors in front. 
  • The Warriors were able to add an insurance run in the top of the sixth on a second RBI single from Nick Poss. Mission pitcher Jackson Vestal got a crucial double play to avoid any further damage, keeping the deficit at two headed to the bottom of the sixth inning. 
  • Mission would put two runners on in the bottom of the sixth inning with the go ahead run at the plate with two outs. Jessup’s Cody Antone would make a great catch at the wall in right field to get out of the inning and keep the Warrior lead at 4-2. 
  • Jessup’s Cody Antone would then hit a crucial RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to increase the Warrior lead to 5-2 and force Mission starter Jackson Vestal out of the game. Jude Tenny would take over and pitch for the Patriots looking to get out of the seventh inning. 
  • The Warriors would bring in Jake Morrell to pitch in the bottom of the seventh. He would give up a pair of hits but would get out of the inning with a huge strikeout to hold the three-run lead.  
  • In the top of the eighth inning Jessup would blow the game open adding five more runs to increase their lead to 10-2. The inning would be highlighted by Cody Antone’s two RBI double for his second double of the game.  
  • Misson would try to stem a comeback but were only able to get three runs back in the last two innings. Jessup would hold off the comeback and add an insurance run to earn the 11-5 win in the NCCAA Baseball World Series National Championship game.
