Seven Events Scored After Day Two of the 2025 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Columbia, S.C. – After a weather delay slowed up the start of action, the 2025 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships were finally able to continue with the conclusion of the decathlon and the start of track and field events. Through seven scored events Sterling College leads the field with 49 points. Action will wrap up tomorrow with the first men’s event of the 5,000-meter starting at 9 a.m. ET. Track Highlights:
  • Track events opened with two heats of the 110m hurdle prelims. Schavon Carr of Campbellsville University earned the top time of 15.09 seconds, while Bethel University was the only school to see two athletes qualify for tomorrow’s final in Austin Mason and Derek Vondrak.
  • In the 100-meter dash, Lamarr Williams continued his strong freshman season with the top qualifying mark for tomorrow’s final of 10.52 seconds. Mark Brissau of Bethel joined Williams as again Bethel was the only school with two athletes to make the final. 
  • Lamarr Williams of Bethel University jumped right back into action less than an hour later competing in the 200-meter dash. He once again recorded the top time of 21.03 seconds to qualify for tomorrow’s final. The mark puts him eighth all-time at the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. 
  • The 4x800-meter was dominated by Malone University. The quartet of Tyler Twining, Eric Dehmer, Xander Heil, and Brylan Holland ran a time of 7:39.98 to win the event. Grace College would finish second and Campbellsville third to round out the All-American honors. 
  • Dominic Malel of Campbellsville edged out Tanner Bailey from College of the Ozarks for the top spot in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:31.48. Grace's Cole Johnston finished third with a time of 31:38.63
 
Field Highlights:
  • The first event to score was the men’s high jump. Sterling College finished first and second overall, led by Charles Jones and his clearance of 2.01m to tie a personal best. Cedric Wilson of Sterling finished second with a clearance of 1.98 meters and was joined by Camron Hamby of Campbellsville University who cleared the same height to also earn NCCAA All-American honors. 
  • Senior Deandre Leith highlighted the men’s discus, winning the event for Columbia International University with a throw of 50.62 meters. The mark is his best at the NCCAA National Championships and gives him a clean sweep of National Championships in the discus during his four years at Columbia International. 
  • Bob Jones University and Javelin favorite Joshua Landry did not disappoint, taking the top spot with a mark of 57.35 meters. The mark is just short of entering the NCCAA top 20 all-time at the meet but does serve as a new personal best. Elijah Propst of College of the Ozarks and Kyle Durkin of Lancaster Bible College would finish second and third respectively. 
  • Charles Jones of Sterling College would win his second event of the day, taking the long jump with a mark of 7.12 meters, .01 short of his personal best. Maurice Gray would finish second with a mark of 6.95 meters and Trey Dixon would take fourth to give Sterling 23 points as a team in the event to take over first place as a team. 
 
Decathlon Highlights:
  • After roughly a two-hour rain delay the decathlon continued with the sixth event of the 110-meter hurdles. Andrew Heinrichs of York University ran a mark of 15.61 to win the event moving him to first in the overall standings with 4097 points over teammate Tytan Taylor. 
  • Alexander Swinehart of Malone University would win his first event of the decathlon in the discus, as the only athlete to throw 30 meters with an official mark of 30.10. Tytan Taylor finished second with a mark of 28.62 meters to close the gap on first place overall to 212 points. 
  • Bethel University’s Christopher Korthuis was the clear favorite in the decathlon pole vault, and he did not disappoint passing until 3.45 meters. He would clear 3.45 on his first attempt before passing two more times. Korthuis would re-enter at 3.75 meters where he would not be able to clear. Andrew Heinrichs of York University would finish third in the pole vault with a jump of 3.05 meters to increase his overall decathlon best score to 4867. 
  • York University’s Tytan Taylor would record a huge victory in the javelin with a throw of 44.45 meters to cut the deficit back to under 200 points. Going into the final event of the decathlon Andrew Heinrichs, Tytan Taylor, and Malone University’s Alexander Swinehart held the top three spots. 
  • Andrew Heinrichs of York University would win the 1500m with the top time of 4:44.58 to secure outright the 2025 decathlon title. Heinrichs finished with 5928 points. Tytan Taylor finished second overall with 5682 points, and Jaden Beske finished eighth to give York 19 total points from the event.
